Find an Item

This tutorial uses Items. Items only reads: it shows what the client’s configs say, and it never changes them. If you have not opened a client yet, do First steps first. The first time you open Items on a big client it reads the item configs and the text table, which can take from a few seconds to a minute.

  1. Click Items in the sidebar, under Game Data.
  2. The line under the title shows what was read: the folder, how many texts came from which text table, and missing: … if a config file the tool looks for is not in the packs.
  3. The drop-down in the top bar chooses the text table (language) the names come from. It lists the tables your packs hold: Traditional Chinese (TW / HK), Thai, Indonesian, English (US), Korean and Korean (base). Regional tables come before the Korean base table, so a regional client opens in its own language. Changing the choice reads the list again.

The names are not stored in the item configs. A config holds STR(n) and the real text lives in a table under resource/text/ (step 5).

The chips on the left split the items the way the client’s managers do: Etc items, Equipment, Equipment boxes, Costumes, Costume boxes, Medals, Decorations and Heroes. Each chip shows how many items it holds. A chip that shows ! could not be read; hover it for the reason. Search works inside the chosen category only, so if an item is not found, try the other chips.

Type in the search box (Name, ID, icon or section). It matches part of the name, part of the ID, part of the icon name and part of the section name, so 1001 also finds every ID that contains those digits. The count under the list reads n of m.

  • Hide unnamed (on by default) leaves out items that have no name or whose name is still STR(n) because the chosen text table has no row for it. Turn it off to see them, or switch the language.
  • Click a column header (ID, Name, Type, Price) to sort; click it again to reverse.
  • The ID is the number the config uses: the type of an etc item, the code of an equipment item.

Click a row. The panel next to the list shows:

  • The icon, the name, the category and ID, and the icon name (usually Set#Image, see step 6). An icon the tool cannot find is drawn empty with “(not found)” as its tooltip.
  • Original: the name written in the config itself, shown when the shop list names the item differently.
  • Type, Group, Grade, Classes, Level, Sell price (or “can’t be sold”), Active. A line only appears when the config has a value for it.
  • Shop: one row per offer with Item, Count / days, Peso, Cash, Bonus peso and On sale.
  • Contents: for boxes, every item with its icon and drop percentage.
  • Inventory description and Shop description: the item’s texts, with the manual file and section they come from.
  • All fields: the section’s raw key and value pairs, exactly as the config has them. Open it when you need a value the panel does not show.

Hero prices are not in the client’s configs, so the Heroes category shows no price.

The Source row reads file [section]. That is the file and the section to edit.

  1. Open IOP Manager and search for the file name. Configs are normally in rs.iop under config/. Equipment lives in group files, so the file name may sit in a folder inside config/.
  2. Select the file and read the Preview with the Encoding that makes the Korean text readable (see Edit an INI config). Find the [section] from the Source row.
  3. The name field there reads STR(n). The text itself is a row in resource/text/text_*.txt (or text.txt) with the key ini_<file name without folder and .ini>::<section>_<n>, all lower case, in the form |key|text|. The first row with a key is the one the client uses.
  4. Preview shows only the first 512 KB of a big text file. To look up a key, Extract the table and search it in an editor. Open it with the encoding of its language: Western 1252 for Indonesian and English, Thai (CP874), Big5 for Traditional Chinese, CP949 for Korean.

Descriptions work the same way: the Inventory description header names a *_manual.ini file and a [ManualN] section, and the lines are texts there.

To change the item, follow Edit an INI config. Items reads the packs in your game folder, so it will not show your edit until the changed pack is in a client you open (Game Folder, Open another folder, or the Folder button of Items), then Reload.

The icon name Set#Image points into xml/uiimageset.xml: Set is an image set, which names one texture, and Image is a named box on it. Open UI Image Sets, search the set name and select the image to see the picture and the texture file it is cut from. Textures and UI shows how to change it.

  • Equipment boxes and costume boxes list their contents by code. A content line shows #code when its name is missing.
  • Some names come from a shop list and not from the equipment file. That is why Original can differ from the name in the list.
  • Items does not edit. Nothing here is changed, uploaded or downloaded.
